Beijing Daxing Airport

The Biggest Airport in the World

Final Countdown for Beijing Daxing Airport

Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) is going to be the biggest airport in the world! The airport’s design is pioneering while its location on Daxing District (the southern suburbs of Beijing) is ideal in order to serve the Chinese capital and the neighboring areas of Hebei and Tianjin. The new mega-airport hub is expected to handle up to 45 million passengers per year by 2021 and 100 million eventually.

The first and foremost question about the promised Daxing airport is when will it finally be open for business? Beijing Daxing International Airport is in its final phase of construction. In fact, the first commercial flight has already landed at the airport, signalling that test flights are coming to their end. Thus, its official operation is scheduled on September 30.

Daxing Airport is located at the frontier between Beijing and Langfang, Hebei Province and is expected to serve the needs of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei areas. Its location was selected after thorough analysis. With a 46km-distance from Tiananmen Square, a 67km-distance from Beijing International Airport and a 26km-distance from Langfang City Center, Daxing Airport aims to become the main airport hub of the region.

The Daxing airport master plan was assigned to NACO (Netherlands Airport Consultants) and was developed with high respect to environmental protection and on the basis of simplifying passenger procedures (less than 600m between checkpoints and gates, minimum waste of time for collecting luggage etc).
